<description>In this powerful episode, I’m joined by Olajide, Co-founder of SiSU—a people experience agency on a mission to create better, more inclusive workplace cultures.
From his beginnings as a part-time TGI Fridays employee to leading culture-shifting work across the hospitality sector and beyond, Olajide brings a deep understanding of what it really means to centre equity, inclusion, and wellbeing at work.
We talk about:
✨ Why equity isn’t the same as equality—and why that difference matters
✨ His journey from being gaslit and facing adversity to becoming a leader in culture change
✨ How data, care, and listening can radically improve the employee experience
✨ What it means to protect your light and stand in your truth
✨ Why the hospitality industry is built on diversity—and why it must do better by its people
✨ Advice to anyone starting out or feeling unseen at work
Olajide’s insights are honest, energising and full of practical ways we can all do better, wherever we work. If you care about people, purpose and progress—this one’s for you.

<description>Welcome to Season 4 of Pivots and Plot Twists. This season's theme is SHINING BRIGHT NOT BURNING OUT.
This season is dedicated to stories of hope, inspiration and positivity, in service of helping you live well, love your work and take care of yourself brilliantly.
On this episode, I'm joined by the wonderful Jo Harley.
*Jo's Bio: *
With a background in hospitality operations, Jo ran employee engagement consultancy Purple Cubed (previously learnpurple) for over 20 years, working with organisations on culture, purpose and values, embedding that through leadership capability and underpinning with technology.
Now the co-founder of two businesses. Korero, an HR tech platform giving organisations the people data they need to plan for success, enabling leaders to have great career conversations with their teams, and people to drive their own development and progression. Korero also runs the technology behind Best Places to Work in Hospitality and Best Workplaces in Travel and works with many clients on their employee surveys.
Hendrick and Hyde is a consultancy helping organisations to build authentic cultures through diagnostics and analysis, defining purpose, values and behaviours (and most importantly how to make them stick), senior team alignment and people engagement / retention strategy.
Jo also judges The Best Employer Catey, The Hotel Cateys, The Food Service Cateys, The Springboard Awards for Excellence, HR in Hospitality Awards and The Purple Umbrella Awards. She's a mentor and has a great network of partners and providers of 'the people stuff' within hospitality.
We discuss:
Being an accidental entrepreneur
What success looks like to her
Leading by example
Navigating menopause
Challenges of a business owner
Getting your purpose back
Being active on LinkedIn
Being authentically yourself
Employee experience
Kindness is not a weakness
